Our Preventive & General Dentistry Services

Dental Examination

During dental examination, our dentist revealed decay on the very back molar. The patient was unaware of such a lesion as it was normally covered by the cheek and it’s too far back for the patient to see easily. A filling is recommended.

Early recognition and intervention is the key to prevent and cure diseases in the human body. A thorough dental exam includes checking hard and soft tissue to detect disease like caries (cavities), gum disease, oral cancer, infection, and other oral pathosis.

Trained professionals are capable of identifying disease in early stages. Book your dental exam now!

Dental Cleaning

Periodic removal of dental tartar helps to prevent gum disease. Gum disease is the number one reason why adults lose their teeth. It is a silent killer as symptoms progress chronically, often remaining unnoticed by non-professionals until it gets to the advanced stage when teeth become mobile.

Trained dental professionals recognise the signs of gum disease early on and can help with prevention of disease and reversing early stage gum disease. Book your cleaning now!

Pediatrics Dentistry

The British Columbia Dental Association recommends a child’s first dental visit should occur by age one or within six months of when you see the first tooth.

Regular dental examinations support good health. The earlier your child visits the dentist, the better the chance of preventing a problem, such as decay. This can also increase your child’s comfort with the experience.

At the clinic, the dentist will:

  • Examine your child’s mouth
  • Address any problems before they become more serious
  • Monitor the development of your child’s teeth
  • Provide tips to care for your child’s teeth and gums
  • Fluoride may be applied to strengthen their teeth.

Preparing your child for their dental visit. To help create a positive experience for your child:

  • Schedule an appointment for a time when your child will be well rested and relaxed
  • Treat the appointment as routine and bring along a favourite toy or blanket
  • Book a dental check-up for your child now!

    Sport Mouth Guard

While it is a healthy lifestyle to exercise regularly, some contact sports can be rough to the teeth. Many of us have seen hockey players with missing front teeth.

Other sports such as boxing, football, basketball, soccer, ultimate frisbee, volleyball and rugby can put your teeth at risk as well. Dental injuries can be traumatic and often are costly to properly restore the tooth afterwards.

Oval Dental Centre offers custom made sport mouth guards that can protect your teeth by absorbing some of the shock from collision. It is of superior quality in comparison to the loosely fitted over-the-counter sports mouth guard, which can fly away in a collision.

Book a consultation to discuss with our dentist to see if you need a sport mouth guard made.

    Minimal Sedation

While dental check ups should be a routine for everyone, some people with more than average anxiety may delay their necessary dental treatment due to fear. We want to help those who are nervous.

We offer minimal sedation by means of oral sedatives and/or nitrous oxide (laughing gas) inhalation. Book a consultation now to see if you are a good candidate for minimal sedation.
