Technology

At Oval Dental Centre, we have state of art technology to help our excellent staff to better serve you.

Using Technology To Make A Difference

Panoramic Digital X-Ray

Advanced Digital X-Ray operates on a much lower level of radiation than traditional X-Ray, protecting the health of our patients.

Intra-Operatory Digital X-Ray with sensor technology

Our digital x-ray sensors allow for instant imaging at low radiation. You’ll be able to see the x-ray image on the screen right away. No more waiting for film development.

Sterilization Equipment

Top of the line sterilization equipment ensures the hygiene and safety of all our dental tools and equipment.

Diode Laser

Why is the Diode Laser Therapy helpful?

Laser uses specific wavelengths of light to interact with human body in a manner that involves minimal to no bleeding, and to help accelerate the healing process. It has a wide range of oral applications including:

  • Gingivectomy (to remove overgrown gum tissue /reshape gum to enhance teeth esthetics)
  • Frenectomy (to trim down high frenum that exerts too much force on gum/ tongue, thus allowing for better positioning for teeth and gum; and clarity of speech)
  • Hemostasis and coagulation (control bleeding)
  • Laser-assisted periodontal therapy (curettage)
  • Exposure of unerupted teeth and uncovering implant
  • Excisional and incisional biopsy (removal of granulation tissue, draining abscess)
  • Laser bacteria reduction

What does Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) do?

LLLT allows for stimulation or inhibition of cells in order to treat various chronic and acute conditions. It helps eliminate swelling, pain, muscle spasms and increases functionality. The Photon 3W is the ONLY laser in Canada which is granted this indication by Health Canada. LLLT can help treating these situations:

  • Herpetic lesions (cold sore)
  • TMJ (jaw joint) pain
  • Headache
  • Teeth sensitivity (desensitization)
  • Dry socket

Intraoral Scanner

Intraoral scanner scans your teeth in just minutes. No more gooey impression material inside the mouth for mold taking. Your teeth’s size, shape and colour will be digitized in the computer. The scan can be sent out to either outside labs, or be used to design crown and bridge in our computer.

3D Printer

The dental scans can be exported and then printed for study models, night guards, surgical stents, etc.

CEREC Prosthesis Possible In One Visit

Oval Dental Centre has now incorporated the newest revolutionary technology from Germany –CEREC®. Chairside Economical Restorations of Esthetic Ceramic or CEREC® for short is a new state-of-the-art method of reconstructing tooth restorations. CEREC® uses computer-assisted design (CAD) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) to offer single-day restorations for patients. What does that mean? Basically, it’s a sophisticated system of designing and making high-quality, metal-free dental restorations. It allows the prepared tooth to be scanned, and the crown or bridge being designed and milled right in front of you in a single visit!

After the dentist shapes the tooth, a camera captures the area being treated. The dental prosthesis is then designed on the computer. Afterwards, the restoration created on the computer is milled from the ceramic block. The machine will shape the block into the shape of the designed dental prosthesis.

Certain dental ceramics need to be sintered in high temperature to achieve its final hardness and colour. Just a little while later, the finished ceramic restoration is inserted in the mouth.

CEREC Advantages

  • Time-saving treatment in one visit. With CEREC you can have high aesthetic restorations made by your dentist in a single visit, without follow up appointment.
  • Comfortable intraoral scan without unpleasant impression material. Say goodbye to biting on impression material for several minutes and having a numb mouth and jaw ache. Your dentist now has a scanner that can capture your full dentition in seconds and then transfer the data to the computer.
  • Your final restoration without temporary prosthesis. Temporary restorations are exactly what the name suggests: temporary. They are not strong and may break or fall off from the tooth. With CEREC the final restoration is designed, manufactured and placed in your mouth directly without any temporary compromises needed.
  • Long-term stability is more than just a theory: With CEREC you can rely on quality that has been proven millions of times. Your smile will remain the same for many years!
